Ronald is Head of Sustainable Banking Development at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). He is responsible for the development and implementation of policies, standards, guidelines and tools to promote sustainable capital flows and facilitate the banking sector’s management of climate related risks.
He is a seasoned financial professional with over 25 years of experience in international banking, finance and investment, focusing on sustainable and transition finance, as well as transactions in the energy, infrastructure and natural resources sectors. Prior to joining the HKMA, Ronald was Head of Sustainable Finance for Asia at a major international bank, leading the bank’s sustainable banking activities in the region. Besides, he was an active contributor to the sustainable finance community, leading committees of industry associations, driving advancements in market standards, and taking part in public awareness and capacity building campaigns.
Ronald graduated with a BS in Economics, majoring in Finance, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a CFA Charterholder.
