His research interests encompass various aspects of tropical meteorology and regional climate dynamics over Southeast Asia region with specific focus on interannual and long-term climate change time scales. In addition, he is also interested in the issue on regional air quality and its association with regional meteorology. He has worked closely with various agencies in Malaysia including Department of Environment (DOE) and Malaysia Meteorological Department (MMD) on issues related to climate and air quality. He is actively participating in regional research collaborative work. He is a member of the World Climate Research Program (WCRP) Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment – Southeast Asia Domain (CORDEX-SEA). Together with colleagues from Southeast Asia and other international agencies, they run regional climate models to provide high resolution projections of future Southeast Asia climate for various regional users as well as IPCC’s assessment.
