Martha Keswick is a children’s book author best known for the COPE Disaster Series, which educates and empowers children to understand disasters through practical coping tools and imaginative approaches to disaster risk reduction (DRR).
COPE partners with leading institutions including scientific advisors - WMO, HKO, UNDRR and The University of Oxford. These collaborations ensure that key instructional messages, such as “Drop, Cover, Hold!” are grounded in technical knowledge and aligned with global best practices. The series now includes 15 illustrated story books and accompanying jingles that reinforce learning in an engaging and memorable way. COPE books are disseminated worldwide, translated into 26 languages and used across 47 countries, including remote Pacific islands such as Niue and Tokelau.
With a background in English Literature and a deep interest in Chinese culture, Martha has also authored the popular bilingual Max and Mei series, the action-packed Pangu comics, and the factual Zhongguo Mingren series.
Martha also contributes through her role as Chairman of The Keswick Foundation, which supports charitable organizations addressing social needs across Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
